Hi there!
How are you?
I’m still keeping up with my artist dates. A couple of weeks ago, I went to Amsterdam during the closing week of the Metamorphoses exhibition at the Rijksmuseum.
I’m sure the Rijksmuseum is never not packed with people, but I feel that during a closing week, it might be especially busy.
I’m telling you this because it caused a dilemma. I had planned to record a video; however, on the spot, I realised there was no way to do so.
So I took photos instead.
The interesting thing is that in the week prior to my visit, my friends and I had chatted about making Instagram carousels.
I love the look of seamless carousels a lot, but I’ve never made one, so I downloaded a template app to see if I could figure it out (I did, and I think I can stick to Canva if I ever want to make one).
Anyway, when I needed to figure out how to share my Rijksmuseum photos with you, a regular slideshow didn’t appeal to me, and the carousel idea somehow collided with a scrapbooky layout I’ve used to create a photo book before. So I decided to play with it in Canva.
And that’s what you see above! I love it when I can solve a ‘problem’ with a creative, new-to-me solution.
I enjoyed the exhibition very much. I have to admit that I know relatively little about Greek and Roman mythology, so I learned quite a bit.
Enjoy your week!
Marsha.
PS. In one of the first rooms of the exhibition, there was a photograph by Ana Mendieta. I couldn’t incorporate it into the video, but I can recommend listening to the season of the podcast Death of an Artist about her.
