Walking around in circles + One last exhibition for the road

Week vlog
2

Hi there! Happy Monday!

Hope your weekend was as good as mine! Let’s continue with the last instalment of the London series.

Monday wasn’t our best day. We took many wrong turns and walked in circles so many times that I felt the whole day was a race against the clock.

We started with breakfast at Comptoir Libanais. It was a nod to our previous trip to London because that’s when we discovered this chain of restaurants.

Then, we wanted to walk over the Millennium Bridge, but unfortunately, it was closed for maintenance. So we took the next bridge over and then walked to the tube station near St. Paul’s Cathedral.

Our second goal of the day was recommended to us by Iris: the art supply shop L. Cornelissen & Sons.

It took us a while to find it. We had to stop for coffee on the way there because we were starting to wonder what was wrong with us.

We also stopped at a bookstore and, eventually, a clothes store.

I don’t believe we had lunch. I remember that at some point, it was getting late, and we really wanted to visit Tate Britain.

So that’s when I remembered to pick up recording again. Once we had made our round, the cafeteria was closing, though, so there was still nothing to eat or drink.

We got on the tube and had to transfer to another one, but there were severe delays on the connecting line, and all sets of coaches that rolled in were already full, so we decided to try our luck above ground. (I believe this was at Green Park station.)

Anyway, we still had a hard time finding a place to drink and eat (where we could also sit down) so we just walked until we recognised being near Carnaby Street, and we found a Pret a Manger.

Once we had something to drink and something small to eat, we stepped into Liberty London because it was right there.

We grabbed more takeaway on returning to our hotel because I was done looking/waiting for food. I only wanted to kick off my shoes and rest.

And then, Tuesday was our last day. So we packed our stuff, checked out of the hotel and went to the Tate Modern to have breakfast and to visit one more exhibition.

We even had time to make a fast-paced round on the collection floor we skipped on Thursday before we had to catch the tube to the airport

And that’s it. The entire London-birthday-celebration-city-trip. Lots of looking at art, not a lot of sightseeing. And that’s perhaps not for everyone.

I needed it. Visiting all the exhibitions. It felt a bit like catching up on lost time.

I’m immensely grateful that we made this happen. I’m still processing a lot of it two weeks later! It was everything I had hoped for and more.

Here’s to another trip around the sun!

Enjoy your week!

Marsha.
