Two ideas to kickstart your creativity

Hi there! Happy Friday!

How is the new year treating you? Same old, same old? Or are you feeling fresh and ready to take all kinds of action?

Both are valid!

I’ve realised that I’m more inclined to think of spring or September as the start of a new year. Winter has barely begun here in the northern hemisphere.

It’s perfectly OK to feel more like hibernating than spurring into action.

Anyway.

I have two things for you.

The first one is for people who feel like easing into the new year with a bit of playful colour exploration:

Yes, it’s my latest video tutorial for Gelli Arts®.

Watching it back makes me want to go into the studio and make another one right now, so I hope it inspires you, too!

The second thing is for people who are up for something more challenging:

Throughout January, my friend Tania Ahmed is hosting a gel printing challenge on Instagram.

She’s sharing a new video on her Instagram feed every day, and she has created a downloadable workbook with 50 gel print textures and 50 project ideas for you to try.

Tania encourages cheating, so you don't have to commit to taking part every day, and you can use whatever mediums and colours you have in your stash or even combine prompts.

And even if you don’t have time for a challenge, I recommend having a look at the stunning prints and collages the participants are sharing using the #gelprintjanuary and #gelprintjanuary2024. They’re amazing!
