Quick visit to the Mondriaanhuis

Join me on a quick visit to the Mondriaanhuis, the birth house of Piet Mondrian in Amersfoort.

He lived here for the first eight years of his life. It’s now a small museum that tells about his life.

Please know that I actually skipped a large room because it was a bit crowded (this room always is because there is a lot to learn and read), and I’ve been to this museum before!

Can you tell what it is that you see here?

You’ll probably know when I tell you that the temporary contemporary exhibition is called Vogels en vissen - De kunst van het weglaten (Birds and fish - The art of omission).

So it’s an Eurasian blue tit by design studio Paul & Albert. Their series is called Blocbirds.

This is a detail of one of the paintings by Albert van Loon on display.

There were also sculptures by Hélène Min, though I have to be honest: I only remember seeing one…

After the museum, I had to run errands in the city centre before returning home. The weather was pretty lovely right up until the moment I got home... 🤷‍♀️

Happy weekend!
